Our Story
We are Nicole and Patric — longtime partners in both our personal and professional lives, with a shared passion for interior and spatial design.
Our professional careers began from different starting points, but have followed complementary paths over the years. With a background in the humanities, Nicole worked on the development and management of prestigious cultural projects in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main region, while Patric’s work is rooted in the technical planning and execution of complex event structures worldwide.
Alongside our individual careers, we have designed and renovated numerous private living spaces.
What began as an effort to create a home that truly felt right for us gradually grew into something more. We realized how much we enjoy shaping spaces and kept doing it, project by project, alongside our professional work. Over time, this led to increasing interest from others and to requests for advice and support.
These experiences shape the way we work today. They gave us a practical understanding of how design decisions are made within real-world constraints, budgets, and everyday use, and how concept, aesthetics, and technical feasibility need to align. At the same time, we have developed a keen sense of what it takes to make a space feel just right for the people who use it.
Building on our expertise from Germany, at Axis & Flow we bring together our experience and develop it into a clear and structured spatial design approach that enables well-founded design decisions — for both commercial and private clients in the United States.
We translate creative concepts into build-ready design solutions.
Founder + Design Lead
Nicole holds a degree in Art History and Cultural Anthropology and has worked for many years in project development and management within the cultural and live music sectors in Frankfurt, Germany. In this context, she oversaw complex projects with responsibility for coordination, budgets, and publicly funded programs.
Her interest in spatial design developed early through continuously shaping and reworking her own living spaces. In this process, she explored in depth why some spaces feel right while others do not. Over time and as she gained more experience, she realized that she wanted to help others make informed design decisions before starting a renovation, because she knew how much thought and care goes into these processes. In this way, spatial design evolved from a personal focus into a professional field and led her to found Axis & Flow.
Today, Nicole combines her professional and hands-on experience with formal training in systemic coaching and interior design to lead the company and shape the conceptual direction of Axis & Flow. Her work is grounded in asking the right questions and follows a structured, human-centered approach that helps clients clarify needs, priorities, and decision paths.
Technical Lead
Patric was trained as an event technician in Germany and has spent more than 25 years working in the technical planning and realization of complex event, exhibition, and architectural projects worldwide.
Through this work, he has developed a deep understanding of how spatial concepts can be transformed into built structures, often under demanding technical, regulatory, and safety requirements. His work is highly specialized and involves the development of customized, project-specific 3D and CAD planning for complex structures.
In private renovation projects, he has been responsible for the overall technical planning, coordinating trades such as electrical, plumbing, and structural work.
At Axis & Flow, he ensures that concepts can be realized in practice. He develops the technical foundation that allows design ideas to be carried through into precise, build-ready plans and brings a strong sense of feasibility, structure, and technical clarity to each project.
