Portrait of Nicole and Patric of Axis + Flow

Our Story

We are Nicole and Patric — longtime partners in both our personal and professional lives, with a shared focus on interior and spatial design.

THE START

Our careers started out in different directions, but over time they have developed in complementary ways. With a background in the humanities, Nicole worked on the development and management of complex cultural projects in Germany, while Patric’s work is rooted in the technical planning and execution of large-scale event structures worldwide.

THE SHIFT

Alongside our individual careers, we began designing and renovating our own living spaces. What began as an effort to create a home that truly felt right for us gradually grew into something more. We realized how much we enjoy shaping spaces and kept doing it, project by project, alongside our professional work. This led to increasing interest from others and, eventually, to requests for advice and support.

THE NOW

These experiences shape the way we work today.

They gave us a practical understanding of how design decisions are made within real-world constraints. At the same time, we developed a clear sense of what makes spaces feel just right for those living in them.

Building on our European expertise, at Axis & Flow we bring together our experience and develop it into a clear and structured spatial design approach that enables well-founded design decisions.

We translate spatial concepts into clear, build-ready solutions.

Founder + Design Lead

Nicole has always had an intuitive sense for aesthetics and structure. This led her to study Art History and Cultural Anthropology and to work for many years in project development and management within the cultural and live music sectors in Frankfurt, Germany.

Even as a child, she would lie in bed at night, thinking about how to rearrange her room next — an early instinct that continued to develop through shaping her own living spaces and exploring why some spaces feel right while others do not.

Through this, she came to understand how much thought, care, and personal commitment go into making the right design decisions. This led to a desire to support others through this process and ultimately to the founding of Axis & Flow.

Today, Nicole combines her professional background with hands-on experience and training in systemic coaching and interior design. She leads Axis & Flow with a structured, human-centered approach that helps clients make clear and well-founded design decisions.

Technical Lead

Patric was trained as an event technician in Germany and has spent more than 25 years working in the technical planning and realization of complex event, exhibition, and architectural projects worldwide.

Through this work, he has developed a deep understanding of how spatial concepts can be transformed into built structures, often under demanding technical, regulatory, and safety requirements. His work is highly specialized and involves the development of customized, project-specific 3D and CAD planning for complex structures.

In private renovation projects, he has been responsible for the overall technical planning, coordinating trades such as electrical, plumbing, and structural work.

At Axis & Flow, he ensures that concepts can be realized in practice. He develops the technical foundation that allows design ideas to be carried through into precise, build-ready plans and brings a strong sense of feasibility, structure, and technical clarity to each project.
